(2007 / Ongoing) The “I AM TOTALLY RIPPING YOU OFF” exhibition is an object lesson in intellectual property. Originally inspired by a piece by Laura Dapito of the same name, it consists of over 30 typographic works (mostly digital poster prints, with some notable exceptions) of varying dimensions. Each work recreates the signature graphical and typographical aesthetic of a formally similar typographic work by an iconic artist, designer, or collective — repurposed as a vessel for the projects' eponymous declaration.
Four RISD departmental galleries hosted “I AM TOTALLY RIPPING YOU OFF” shows (in various configurations) throughout 2007 and Spring 2008. I wrote about the project on the design blog SpeakUp.
